2019-10-25 12:46:50Can't wait for LabyMod 1.14. :) I don't like playing on 1.8 and/or 1.12 anymore – they are, by far, outdated versions. -

2020-02-16 23:38:37Dear LabyMod Team,
For many years to this day, I have remained on an MC 1.8 client for very specific reasons. While I primarily play multiplayer, I prefer to reserve the option to quickly switch to singleplayer without restarting the client. Further, I operate a 1.8 server; however, regardless of where I play, nothing other than 1.8 pvp mechanics is acceptable.
Accordingly, the only present solution is to maintain both a 1.8 server and client. It is easily possible, on the server's side, to allow forwards version compatibility, enabling 1.8-1.15 clients to join and play on a 1.8 server with 1.8 pvp. However, this approach is not without drawbacks. Namely, running a 1.8 server necessitates the usage of corresponding outdated 1.8 software, along with the disadvantages that running outdated software entails. Furthermore, that servers remain divided between 1.8 and 1.15 backends is neither healthy nor productive for the community of server owners and plugin authors who must cope with such disparities.
Consequently, many servers chosen alternatively; they operate 1.15 servers but restore 1.8 pvp mechanics artificially. Such servers may decide to maintain backwards version compatibility to allow 1.8 clients to join, but backwards compatibility is much more difficult than forwards compatibility. As a result, maintaining a 1.15 server with 1.8 pvp, but not 1.8 clients, is a prominent choice, one which I myself plan for. However, this design is incompatible with clients opting to use LabyMod, since LabyMod does not extend to 1.15. Since I can scarcely play without LabyMod, it is impossible to update to a 1.15 server with 1.8 pvp unless the LabyMod client itself updates.
I solemnly urge you to update LabyMod to Minecraft 1.15.2 or the latest MC version as more updates are released. It is quite simple to maintain 1.8 pvp on a 1.15 server. Yet, users' client versions remain problematic. An update to LabyMod would grant server owners the ability to update their own servers without losing LabyMod users. Consider, also, including a feature in LabyMod 1.15 clients to revert to 1.8 pvp.
Sincerely,
A248
P.S. #3049 and #3085 are duplicates. -

2020-02-21 02:04:36Can one already say how long it will take? Because it will also not take so long until the 1.16 is out. -

2020-03-29 15:39:01Any news on a LabyMod update? I really like this client and I hate to play without it but only having 1.12 and 1.8 support does not allow me to do that on many servers

2020-05-22 00:36:48According to the statements, there will also be 1.13, 1.14 and 1.15 from version 4.0. Of course then also 1.16 :D

2021-01-31 19:38:47@Niklas I get it but it would be nice to at least hear updates about what's left to add on the Dev side, an updating estimated time of arrival for labymod 4.0 and (mabye) an open or closed beta when it gets closer to getting finished
