even though I am probably the only windows 8.1 user here, I would appreciate it

    Sadly, that's nothing that we can fix.
    Our Launcher uses Electron as its base and they dropped the Windows 7/8/8.1 support quite some time ago.
    You should be able to use LabyMod 4 through the official Minecraft Launcher though.
