There are several uses for a feature to view old chat messages from weeks or months ago when playing multiplayer. What if somebody sends you their social media tag, but you forget it. If someone is spamming rule breaking messages that you want to report to a server, but you need to include what they said, you could go back and read them. With a feature to search logs, there would be many ways to filter messages. For example, filtering by player, message content, or what server they were sent on.
