Negative Spaces are broken

When using negative spaces (custom font characters, that go backwards) in the chat it results in broken text...
In our resource pack, there are two characters (one top character and one bottom). Each row should contain two lines of pixels (so a 8x8 head image is represented in 4 lines - in our case 5 lines because to center the image we only have one row in the first line). After one row of pixels, a negative space character is used to move the internal x variable in the font renderer back to the beginning to draw the next row. This seems to fail in labymod and results in this broken mess:
In the first image the text is drawn by a modded fabric client (but is rendered the exact same in vanilla!!!) and in the second image it is rendered by labymod.
The server this is on is our development network, but I can give out access to verified labymod developers if required. We assume a large portion of players will be playing with labymod, so we would like this fixed.

2023-10-29 18:34:00Sorry, completely missed the comment. I temporarily whitelisted the minecraft account "Robby_" to dev.cafestu.be.
The default rank should have permission for /joinme right now, so just right click any of the NPCs (that are placed at spawn right now for easier access during development) and run /joinme. You need to join using 1.20.1. We might update to 1.20.2 next month, but as of right now, please use 1.20.1. If it doesn't work, try 1.20.2 🙃
